Support Within the Community

Just as a reminder, provision is still available within the community to help those who may need support for things such as shopping or to collect a prescription.  This assistance through the Community

Support Organisations (CSO’s) is available both for the period of the new lockdown and the longer term.

Those residents who are not vulnerable or do not have friends or family locally who can help them can be referred to their local Community Support Organisations (CSO), details below. 

The CSO’s also have access to food vouchers for those who have been through the Test and Trace system and are now in isolation and cannot leave their homes to get shopping. 

If residents are vulnerable or are already known to either Harrogate Borough Council or North Yorkshire County Council they need referring into the relevant customer contact centre.

All the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV’s) have been written to by the Government/ NHS with the details of how to access support. A follow up letter is also being sent by North Yorkshire County Council.  Like previously residents will need to register for assistance for either food or prescriptions. The difference this time is that there will be no food boxes provided centrally however there will be the offer to get on a priority shopping list of one of the major supermarkets and support to do this if required. If this doesn’t meet the individuals needs the resident will be referred into our local food provision offer (either a volunteer to shop for the individual or a referral into one of our community food providers who do meals and deliver to the door).

Locally we will continue to work together to ensure that no one falls through the net if they need help.  

As you know, our support structures and work with partners has continued following the last lockdown period so we are hopeful that the majority of people who need assistance have sought it prior to this new restriction phase, however we do recognise that situations change.
